Myself and Jay had the pleasure of working with Derek on a show we created and produced for Nickelodeon - Tot Cop. I have great memories of the 3 of us sitting in our kitchen drinking coffee and discussing ideas and the excitement when he sent through various options on themes etc. and then the joy of listening to his scoring of each episode. Derek had an amazing musical gift. A hugely talented composer and musician. He had it all. After production finished, I loved meeting up with Derek for coffee and a chat. We would discuss new projects, our careers and our families. His love for his family was everything, they were at the forefront of everything he did. Aoibhe, Cole and Cora we are sending you all our love and deepest sympathies. Aoibhe we can not begin to fathom your loss. Your husband, your best friend, he was just the best and kindest guy. Cole and Cora your dad was a legend and touched the lives of so so many people. His music and his memory will live on forever, we will never forget him. - Meabh and Jay Tammemagi.
